Computer history: the period between 1986 and 1989

The computer history between 1986 and 1990 at TNO-FEL was characterised by replacing the mainframe and expanding the administrative processing and the other central computer and networking facilities:

• The Control Data Cyber systems (Cyber 840A and 911-31)
• Data communication and PCLAN
• Graphic computing facilities: GX4000 and I2S
• Expanding administrative processing (FELBIS)
• Computers for electronic and mechanical engineering
• Phasing out the DEC PDP systems
