Infrared detonation detector (1962)

 
The infrared detector developed by the laboratory was used to observe the detonation of grenades in flight. This observation is used to determine the flight time of a projectile with a so-called time tube. The observation is used to determine the projectile flight time between the moment the projectile leaves the barrel of the cannon and the moment of detonation. The pre-set flight time on the time tube of the grenade is checked for accuracy. 

The figure below shows the schematic representation of the flight time measurement with infrared viewers. The adjustable locking circuit ensures that the counter cannot be stopped by interference signals. This circuit blocks the stopping of the counter until just before the jumping of the projectile.
