Radio Communication
Radio Communication
The history of radio dates back to observations by physicists who investigated the phenomena of electricity and magnetism in the 18th century. Radio communication applications were developing rapidly in the first half of the 20th century. The Measurement Building soon started researching military radio communication after its foundation in 1927.
Examples of our research:
- Radio communication (1927 – 1935)
- Meteorograph (1934 – 1939)
- Ultra-High Frequency telephone (1935 – 1940)
- Automatic reconnaissance system friend or foe for the Navy (1938 – 1940)
- Remote control of a seaplane (1938 – 1940)
- Reuse of a WWII Würzburg-Riese antenna (1948 – 1977)
- Troposcatter and TacSatCom (1950 · 1975)
- Panoramic receivers (1953 – 1964)
- Non-eaves-droppable ship-to-ship communication (1954 – 1962)
- Equipment for processing intercepted telex information (subgroup crypto automation)
- Radar transponders (1959 – 1995)
- Electro-Magnetic Pulse-research (1970 – 1993)
- Automatic Reporting and Identification System for Ships (1987 – 2000)
- Mixer Pulse Blanking Unit (1992)
- Pioneering with 60 GHz communication (1992 – 1999)
